Health Unit Coordinator I - Ben Taub - MedSurg 5C - FT/Nights

Job Summary The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC I) is responsible for the daily clerical operation and coordination of activities on a nursing unit(s). They work closely with the charge nurse/nurse manager to facilitate and support unit operations ensuring patient needs are met. The HUC I monitors and facilitates compliance with select environmental and process safety and regulator standards, maintains unit supplies and equipment, and serves as the hub for coordinating unit activity and communication. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic Life Support certification from an American Heart Association or Red Cross approved program. Other certifications as required by unit/service. Three (3) years of work experience, or related training and/or college level courses preferred. Proficiencies in PC use and basic office software. Experience with various office equipment, including fax machines, printers, scanners, and telecommunication systems. Communication Skills Above-average verbal communication; heavy public contact. Job Attributes & Skills Knowledge of medical terminology. Word processing skills. Organizational, technical, clerical, and computer skills. Personal and professional effectiveness.
