Office Assistant

Barre Town Middle and Elementary School is seeking an Office Assistant to provide clerical and receptionist support in our busy front office, 20-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, through the school year.

• Greet and welcome visitors to the school. Ensure visitors to the building follow check-in/safety protocol. Inquire about the purpose of entering the office and direct to the appropriate location when necessary.
• Ensure badges, sign-in sheets, and other materials are well stocked, available, and appropriately displayed.
• Assist students, parents, teachers, and others who enter the school building and resolve all daily office concerns.
• Answer all incoming calls; record all messages accurately and give them to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
• Practice confidentiality requirements pertaining to students and staff.
• Acts as confidential employee for backup administrator support.
• Distribute various written information; answer questions about department/school policies, procedures, fees, schedules, events, services, programs, and the like; distribute, collect, and assist with completing forms.
• Perform a variety of tasks related to the development, organization, and maintenance of computerized departmental records using personal computers: design and basic programming of appropriate databases and reporting systems using various PC software; initial database input; ongoing use of the system, involving regular data input and using programs to generate a variety of reports.
• Screen, sort, and distribute incoming mail. Prepare outgoing mail.

• Previous office experience is preferred.
