Sr. Financial Analyst

Position Overview Howard University Hospital, the nation’s only teaching hospital on the campus of a Historically Black University, invites applications for a Sr. Financial Analyst in its Finance Department. The role supports high-quality, patient‑centric care through financial and operational analysis, budgeting, and decision support. Responsibilities Ad‑hoc financial analyses, including pro‑formas, long‑term plans, and other requests assigned. Evaluation of capital requests to understand ROI and service line analytics. Annual budget preparation and monthly reconciliation. Day‑to‑day financial support, including AP, payroll, and general support to leaders and staff. Entity financial analyses, including month‑end financial review and reconciliation. Act as liaison between HUH, HU, and FPP. Assume other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description and are not to be considered all‑inclusive. Competencies Ability to perform highly technical financial analysis. Working knowledge of Acute Care hospital operations. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other MS Office products. Experience managing and completing the annual budgeting process, including volume, revenue, and expenses. Ability to work independently and productively in a fast‑paced environment. Accountability in producing high‑quality and timely work products. Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills. Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to plan and coordinate projects from start to finish, set and meet objectives, budgets, and deadlines. Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or healthcare administration from an accredited college or university required. MBA or Master’s degree preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in financial management or decision support within an Acute Care Facility. CPA preferred. Benefits Work‑life balance.
