Responsibilities Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Technical school or Associate degree Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection Ability to interpret construction schedules Not less than 3 years employment in civil, highway or appropriate engineering field of which at least one year shall be in field inspection activities. Considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods and procedures, ability to maintain field and office records; ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations; ability to read and interpret plans and specs; ability to deal effectively with people. NICET Level II Certification Transportation/Highway Construction is preferred, except for those persons possessing a current PE license registered in CT or a BS in a relevant field. Local candidates preferred Required Qualifications Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma) A minimum of 3 years experience Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must HDR's Drug and Alcohol Policy supports our commitment to employee safety and exceeding client requirements. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
