Project Manager - Compass

Software Resources has an immediate, contract job opportunity for a Project Manager – Compass with a major corporation in Glendale, CA. Contract Length: 6+ months. Pay Rate: $70 – $76 per hour, depending on experience. The Project Manager will manage enterprise-level projects and initiatives within the Enterprise Technology & Data portfolio, working closely with project owners to define the team, assign responsibilities, develop consolidated project views, and deliver calendars, dependencies, risk analysis, stakeholder coordination, and status communication. Job Responsibilities & Duties Project Management Delivery – Manages projects, multiple projects, or a program with Engineering teams on development and implementation of products or solutions. Works with clients to understand business objectives and translates them into technical execution plans. Collaborates on configuration/development of system processes and evaluates system architecture options. Frames problems, designs solutions, alternatives, and product strategy for development teams. Requires technical depth/domain expertise to drive project milestones, though not responsible for product development. Manages engineering, technical, and procurement activities related to planning, executing, supervising, and controlling technical and operational aspects. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery, including planning and directing schedules and resources. Vendor and International Team Management – Supports and aligns with 3rd party vendor and international team PMs to ensure deliverables are complete in a timely manner. Demonstrates flexibility to align with international time zones as necessary. Evaluates and harmonizes vendor timelines/schedules and cross‑project dependencies to ensure alignment with overall objectives. Escalates risks and blockers as needed. Financial Management – Responsible for finance and budget for projects under $1M. Analyzes, measures, and recognizes the financial impact of project actions, participates in financial analysis, identifies key issues, maintains budget tracking, and monitors expenditures. Status Reporting – Prepares program and project status reports that include overall health, KPIs, risk, issues, accomplishments, next steps, and escalation requests. Identifies and facilitates resolution of issues and risks to meet commitments. Maintains data visualization elements to provide graphic demonstration of project analytics and metrics. Communication – Leads with a win‑win attitude, adapts to diverse personalities, operates as an independent leader, and demonstrates influencing without direct authority. Facilitates project team meetings effectively, distributes timely updates, and communicates with technology senior leaders, managers, directors, and service owners to drive tasks and dependencies to completion. Escalates where guidance and support are needed. Project Management Lifecycle Disciplines – Exposure to integrated systems lifecycle development using various models (agile, waterfall, hybrid). Familiar with product and software development lifecycle processes and tools. Supports enterprise software projects (SaaS, PaaS, on‑prem) with integrations across diverse environments. Uses modern work management tools (Smartsheet, JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, SharePoint/Teams, Slack). Ensures project document repositories are maintained and updated. Technical Depth – Working knowledge in domains such as workplace services platforms, on‑prem and SaaS/PaaS content, collaboration tools, websites & portals, application delivery, email/messaging, video, voice, workplace devices, support, authentication, datacenter migration, wireless refresh, network segmentation, and cloud migration. Guidance in Program Management Discipline – Participates in guiding the team to think lean and be agile and mentors peers in program management. Work Experience 7+ years of applicable project management experience in a technology environment, preferably for a large company. At least 5 years of experience leading technology, multidisciplinary efforts across a large‑scale matrix organization. Skills, Specialized Knowledge & Competencies Experience in leading technology projects or multi‑threaded efforts. Ability to lead project meetings and workshops driving commitments, accountability, and deliverables. Demonstrated critical thinking, planning, analytical and problem‑solving skills to achieve business results. Experience developing and managing software development project plans. Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies, focused on agile and lean. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to work across a diverse corporate and client environment. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget while communicating with teams and leadership. Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team to produce quality work. Demonstrated inclusive leadership that embraces diversity. Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management skills. Exposure to modern software development and infrastructure tools, processes, and practices, including Jira, Confluence, agile development, cloud, DevOps, data management, SaaS/PaaS. End‑user experience with program and project management tools such as ServiceNow, PPM, Clarity, Smartsheet, MS Project Online. Clear understanding of agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, pre‑planning, planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Exposure to productivity tools, including collaboration software (MS Teams) and standard MS Office tools (Outlook Online, OneDrive). Required Education BA/BS in business, computer science (preferred) or other technical field, or appropriate work experience. Licenses / Training PMI or Scrum Alliance (or similar) certifications in Program Manager, Project Manager, or Scrum Master competencies are preferred. Preferred Qualifications Prior Disney experience. 3+ years serving in a Scrum Master role for a software or product development team with diligent application of Scrum principles and practices. Role Scope & Core Responsibilities Support a specific platform project, with potential extension beyond the initial project if performance is strong. Manage weekly project finances. Produce weekly status reports. Coordinate meetings and stakeholder communications. Act as a liaison with business partners. Track project progress and maintain documentation. Required Skills & Candidate Profile Strong communication and writing skills. Financial acumen, including CapEx vs. OpEx understanding, budget tracking, variance analysis, and explaining financial variances and recovery plans. Project management fundamentals, experience managing projects end‑to‑end. Agile methodology familiarity. ServiceNow experience. General technical environment exposure. Financial & Budget Expectations Experience managing budgets of $1M+ (benchmark). Strong working knowledge of financial tracking regardless of exact budget size.
