About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience required. License: Valid state nursing license required. Certifications: BLS, Blue CPI card required. Must-Have: Epic charting system experience required. Description: Clinical review and auto offer position. BLS and a current blue CPI card are required. VA fingerprinting is required before starting. Candidates will work nights. Opportunity to offer 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend and every other holiday are included in the schedule. Time off requests can be approved up to 40 hours. Candidates will be expected to manage a patient ratio of up to 8 on night shifts. Travelers are expected to float within their scope of practice within the facility. Candidates should be familiar with managing various psychiatric diagnoses. The unit operates as a locked psychiatric setting. Safety checks and companion sitters are essential responsibilities. All admissions must come from the emergency department and need to be medically stable. The staff includes behavior health technicians and mental health technicians. Behavior management techniques are crucial for this position. Travelers are required to have experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Modules may be required and will be conducted during orientation. Experience with antipsychotics and mood stabilizers is preferred. Additional skills in medication administration and physical hold protocols are necessary. Patience and communication skills are vital for supporting patients with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. Certified staff will need to demonstrate adherence to procedures related to restraints and seclusion. Nursys verification is mandatory for submission.
