SEMINAR DOMESTIC LIFE COORDINATOR

The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity invites qualified candidates to apply for a Seminary Domestic Life Coordinator.

The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity (SPSSOD) is operated under an affiliation agreement between the University of St. Thomas, the Saint Paul Seminary and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The vision, mission and core values are as follows:

Salary Range: $22.00 an hour to $26.00 an hour

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing 3 evening meals a week (generally Mon. thru Wed.) of high quality for the priest community (varying from 2-14 priests per meal), cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and lounge area, cleaning priest rooms, and turning over guest rooms on the 4th floor.

Essential Functions

1. Menu planning, food preparation, and service: Menu planning to include alternate options for individuals with special dietary needs. Clean and prepare fresh foods according to recipe specifications and as much as possible from scratch and following ServSafe food handling guidelines. Serve an evening meal to the priest community, generally 3x per week (Mon thru Wed). (During J-term and summers: fewer meals and more cleaning or other duties).

2. Inventory Maintenance: Maintain an inventory of kitchen goods. Label and date items once opened. Practice FIFO. Restock kitchen essentials as needed year-round. Maintain shopping lists for a grocery store and/or a wholesale goods seller. Shop as needed.

3. Maintaining a Clean Workspace: Maintain daily upkeep and cleaning of the 4th floor kitchen, 5th floor kitchen storage, and cleaning of the lounge area. Clean and provide basic care for the kitchen appliances and items. Assist with loading and emptying of the dishwasher and hand-wash other items as needed. Maintain refrigerator in cleanliness and disposing of outdated food.

4. Clean Priest Rooms: Clean each room (approximately 7 rooms) as instructed by that particular resident priest (e.g. toilet, shower, vanity, vacuuming, etc.)

5. Turnover 4th Floor Guest Rooms: Clean guest rooms (approximately 4 rooms) upon guest departure, including sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, restocking supplies, changing sheets and towels, vacuuming, hanging guest sign on door, etc. Collaborate with Front Desk / Guestmaster on timing of departures and arrivals.

6. Attend monthly staff meeting (Sept. Dec., Feb. May). During slow times (e.g., J-Term and Summer) consult with Operations Coordinator to assist with project-related needs (e.g., guest room preparation for conferences).

7. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High School education or the equivalent
• Some experience in a high-volume food service operation.
• Must have a ServSafe certification from the State of Minnesota.
• Must have a valid driver's license for driving the seminary van to shop for grocery/wholesale goods. A DMV background check is required for this position.
• Must have the capacity to regularly prepare meals with flexibility in number of people served from 2-14 while maintaining fine quality, and menu-planning experience to include an understanding of special dietary needs.
• Prepare one monthly meal during school year for about 20.
