Key Responsibilities * Join a department comprising 131 Pathologists, including 4 specialists in the clinical chemistry lab. * Oversee the technical direction of clinical laboratories to ensure compliance with regulations and maintain high-quality patient test results within a multi-hospital clinical chemistry service. * Provide on-call attending duties, including clinical consultations for physicians and healthcare providers regarding test results and their interpretations. * Engage actively in educational initiatives within the division. * Pursue research in basic, clinical, or translational fields. * Support laboratory-based investigations and entrepreneurial projects based on previous achievements. * Create and present educational materials for medical students, residents, fellows, and laboratory personnel in various teaching settings. * Incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into your work practices. * Participate in evaluating trainees and interviewing candidates. The selected candidate will hold a full-time faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and be part of the faculty practice plan. * If you have an externally funded research program or plan to develop one, we provide appropriate transition or seed funding, along with necessary space and resources. * Comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance. * Occurrence-based malpractice insurance coverage. * Defined contribution plan; 403b plan with employer matching. * Relocation assistance of up to $10,000. * Six weeks of vacation and continuing medical education (CME) time. * $4,110 allocated for CME expenses. Qualifications: * Experience in a large hospital-based clinical chemistry laboratory, providing technical direction in areas such as general chemistry, urinalysis, toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring, immunopathology, and specialized testing is advantageous, along with a strong academic background in effective communication (written, verbal, and presentation). * Proficiency in clinical laboratory quality management to ensure standardized practices across all phases of testing (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical). * Knowledge of Informatics and its application in Pathology is a plus. * Board certification from a recognized agency (ABCC, NRCC(CC), CAP) is required. * A Ph.D. or M.D. with board certification in Clinical Chemistry or a related specialty is necessary. * If holding a Ph.D., board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, National Registry of Clinical Chemists, or certification from CMS-approved boards is required. * If holding an M.D., board certification or eligibility in clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology is necessary. * Eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania is mandatory. * Assistant Professor (1-5 years of experience) or Associate Professor (6-10 years of experience) level candidates are encouraged to apply.
