This position will assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. The Medical Assistant will be a member of a medical care team in accordance with NCQA - Patient Centered Medical Home standards and will be required to travel as necessary for training and coverage at other locations.School Based Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities:Assist patients with flow through the clinic and escorts patients to exam rooms.Takes vital signs and prepares patients for assessmentPrepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing, and maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in all exam areas.Sterilizes instruments as assigned.Screens telephone calls for referrals.Ensures that pertinent information and most recent test results are in patient records.Assist providers with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed.Remains in exam room with provider during patient exams as requested or assigned.Follows infection control guidelines and ensures adherence to OSHA and CLIA protocols due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids.Performs daily controls on equipment and maintains records/logs in accordance with regulations and protocol.Prepares medicationsMaintains CPR certification and licensure requirements.Maintains patient confidentiality.Completes weekly task assignmentAccurately triage walk in patients and call-ins.Stock supplies in medical rooms prior to all shifts.Check expiration dates on all pharmacy and other stored products.Adheres to scheduling assignmentsAttends required meetings, and in-services, and participates in committees as requested.Performs other duties and activities, as per credentialed and proven skill level or incidental to the work and responsibilities of this position.Use additional forms of telehealth to assist provider.Provide health screening (PHQ9, Edinburgh Scale, and GAD 7) as needed to direct patients to needed medical careComplete Daily Operations Reports as requested by the Practice ManagerLog and transmit temperature data as required for vaccine and medication storageMay provide Vaccines For Children (VFC) program coordination and oversightMaintain cash box, audit and bank depositsWe are seeking School Based Medical Assistant candidates with the following qualities:Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certification as a Medical Assistant preferredPrefer six months to a year of work experience, preferably in clinic settingPrevious pediatric experience preferredValid driver's license, a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance required.Meridian Health Services provides the following benefits to qualified School Based Medical Assistant candidates:Health, dental, vision plansMerit Based CompensationVoluntary benefits, including critical illness, short term disability, etc.401k with company contributionGenerous PTO planProfessional Development FundsWellness planLife balance oriented organizationDrug screen, TB test, extensive background check, and fingerprinting are required of all Meridian employees.
