Key Duties Analyze and comprehend technical shop blueprints, fabrication specifics, and ductwork requirements. Execute the layout and shaping of various ductwork configurations, including round, rectangular, and custom fittings. Construct a variety of components such as plenums, transitions, offsets, reducers, and equipment interfaces. Utilize shop machinery like shears, brakes, rolls, and spot welders while ensuring a safe environment for your colleagues. Join duct sections using the correct hardware, reinforcements, joints, and seams. Ensure the precision of all fabricated components by verifying dimensions against project specifications. Contribute to team success by consistently meeting fabrication timelines and production goals. Optimize material usage to reduce waste when working with aluminum, galvanized steel, and stainless steel. Foster a productive atmosphere by keeping the workspace tidy and adhering to safety protocols. Uphold organizational quality standards and safety regulations to ensure a secure workplace for everyone. Support the growth of the team by providing guidance and mentorship to junior shop staff. Required Qualifications Proven background in commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication within a professional shop setting, specifically with light gauge materials. Current AWS D1.1 Welding Certification. Demonstrated capability to perform independent layout, forming, and assembly of duct systems. Comprehensive understanding of fabrication techniques, including gauges, seams, joints, and duct fittings. Proficiency in performing trade-related math and reading a tape measure with high accuracy. Ability to interpret complex shop plans and fabrication drawings to guide your work. Competence in the safe operation of standard sheet metal fabrication tools and machinery. Reliable professional with a strong track record of punctuality and consistent attendance. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the highest standard of craftsmanship. Versatility to work effectively both as an individual contributor and as a collaborative team member. Physical Demands Capacity to remain standing for long durations. Ability to perform repetitive motions, including bending, reaching, and climbing. Capability to lift and maneuver heavy sheet metal, tools, and duct materials. Comfort working within a standard industrial shop setting. Mandatory Requirements Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening. Clearance of a criminal background check.
