About the Position

Job Title: Med-Surg RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7:30 AM Experience: 2 years of recent experience in Post Operative Recovery License: RN license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Experience with post-operative care, including general, orthopedic, and podiatry. Description: This position is for a Med-Surg RN in a dynamic clinical setting. The nurse will care for patients in a medical-surgical unit with a wide variety of diagnoses. Common diagnoses include post-operative recovery, diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, and more. Experience with CBI, BiPAP, peritoneal dialysis, surgical drains, and wound vacs is advantageous, though training is available for some of these procedures. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts. Staff members rotate between different areas, providing a diverse work experience. Nursing assistants are available to help with patient care based on acuity. The charge nurse maintains a patient load, while supervision is available at all times. Patients may be on telemetry, but the RN does not interpret telemetry readings. Training or experience with tele tech is a bonus. Shifts are scheduled based on needs identified by management. Every other weekend and holiday rotation are part of the schedule. Floating to ICU or tele units may be required during high patient volume situations. Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable for this role.
