Welcome to Gen Brooklyn!

Located in the heart of Prospect Heights, Gen has been part of the Brooklyn community since 2004, serving comforting Japanese cuisine in a warm, casual neighborhood setting.

Today, we are entering an exciting new chapter.

We are refining our operations, evolving our menu and service, and raising the level of hospitality we offer our guests. As a small, close-knit team, every person plays an important role—and every team member has the opportunity to contribute, learn, and grow with us.

At the heart of this next chapter is a simple Japanese idea: OMOTENASHI —the spirit of thoughtful hospitality and genuinely caring for the person in front of you.

For us, OMOTENASHI is not about following a script or being overly formal. We want to explore what it can mean here, today, in Brooklyn—warm, intuitive, personal, and constantly evolving. It is something we hope to learn, practice, and shape together as a team.

We are looking for more than someone to simply take orders and run food. We are seeking a Server who genuinely enjoys hospitality, appreciates Japanese food and culture, and wants to be part of building something meaningful for the long term.

• Competitive Pay: $11.35/hour + tips
• Consistent Schedule: 4–5 days per week

• Experience & Interest: Previous front-of-house or serving experience, with a basic knowledge of or genuine interest in Japanese cuisine

• Teamwork & Flexibility: Open-minded and comfortable communicating, collaborating, and receiving feedback as we continue to refine our service
