Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 18 months Med/Tele RN experience - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: About the Facility: - 457 licensed beds - Trauma Level III - Teaching Hospital - Chest Pain Center - Stroke Center of Excellence - Bariatric Center of Excellence Unit Information: - Beds: 28 - Patient Ratios: RN 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8 Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: - Orthopedic surgery - Spine surgery - Trauma - Vascular Surgery - Medical Overflow Required Skills: - General post-surgical skillset including incision care, assessment, drains, chest tubes, wound care/wound vacs, mobility, education, trach care, and NG tube insertion - Use of braces/traction Support within the Department: - CNA responsibilities include phlebotomy, ADLs, and Foley insertion/removal - Charge nurse available for indirect support - IV/VAT Team available - Mentorship for additional support and policy information access - Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 - Hospitalist available 24/7 - Remote telemetry monitoring available - House Supervisor provides additional support and resources - Patient Safety Attendants/Virtual Patient Observation for patients needing additional observation - Behavioral Response Team deployed for de-escalation measures - Rapid Response/Code Team available for change in condition or emergencies Technology/Equipment: - EMR system in use - IV pumps and medication dispensing systems available - Monitors in use Floating: - Within region and scope of practice - Required to float per regional needs Scheduling: - Weekend rotation every other week - Holiday expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays - RTO: Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays Unit Culture: - Positive and supportive environment
