This role focuses on troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining all plant electrical, instrumentation, and electronic equipment in an industrial environment. The electrician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to emergency call-outs, and support specific projects as assigned by the electrical supervisor or department leadership. The position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, plant productivity, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repair work, preventive maintenance, and emergency call-out tasks on plant electrical equipment while maintaining code compliance, high-quality craftsmanship, and professional conduct.
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and electronic systems to identify potential concerns and maintain maximum productivity and equipment uptime.
• Calibrate, repair, and maintain plant electrical and instrumentation systems, including wiring, PLC-related equipment, and associated control systems.
• Make recommendations for modifying preventive maintenance job plans throughout the facility to improve reliability and effectiveness.
• Recommend additional spare parts requirements to the immediate supervisor to ensure adequate inventory and minimize downtime.
• Maintain the integrity, reliability, and general appearance of all electrical systems within established standards.
• Work collaboratively with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation, both within and outside the immediate work group.
• Report maintenance problems, recurring issues, and equipment concerns promptly to the immediate supervisor.
• Supervise and/or train contractors as required to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality work.
• Generate work order notifications for required maintenance activities and follow up to ensure completion.
• Document work order history accurately when jobs are completed, including tasks performed and parts used.
• Record all problem-solving efforts related to repeat problems or issues to avoid rework and establish a clear history of the problem.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, schematics, and manuals to aid in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Apply mechanical aptitude and maintenance skills when working with equipment that integrates electrical and mechanical components, including pneumatics.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
• Promote a culture of safety by consistently exhibiting safe behaviors and encouraging others to do the same.
• Support 24/7 operations by meeting on-call responsibilities and responding to emergency call-outs as required.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the electrical field within cement manufacturing or a closely related industrial environment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems, instrumentation, and electronic equipment in a plant setting.
• Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance for electrical equipment and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, plans, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience with wiring, electrical repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC-related systems and the ability to work around PLC-controlled equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience working in a maintenance technician capacity, including basic mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose recurring issues and develop effective solutions.
• Capability to generate, manage, and document work orders, including detailed maintenance history and problem-solving steps.
• Willingness and ability to meet on-call responsibilities and respond to emergency call-outs to support continuous 24/7 operations.
• Commitment to working safely in environments with moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, and industrial hazards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting, particularly with cement or related industries.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain equipment reliability within established standards.
• Experience training or supervising contractors or external maintenance personnel.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across different work groups.
• Attention to detail in maintaining the integrity and general appearance of electrical systems.
• Comfort working with preventive maintenance programs and recommending improvements to job plans.
• Ability to document maintenance activities thoroughly to support future troubleshooting and reliability efforts.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial plant environment and requires working outside throughout the entire shift. You will regularly encounter moving mechanical parts and work in proximity to electrical equipment and vibration. The position frequently involves working at high, precarious places; in confined spaces; and around fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. Conditions may be wet and/or humid, and the noise level ranges from moderate to occasionally loud. The work environment is designed to support safe performance of essential functions, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

The pay range for this position is $37.55 - $37.55/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
