Position Details

• Role: Release Manager 5
• Hiring Manager: Gidon Chang (Lead Technical Program Manager / SRA)
• Location: Mountain View, California (5 days/week in-office required; replacing a remote role based in NC)
• Product focus: Bixby voice assistant (supporting cloud services, on-device features across 12 languages, and integrations with S-series, Folds, and home appliances)
• Contract Term: 12 months, with potential for extension or full-time conversion based on performance and budget

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end release management and deployment schedules (approx. 90% release management, 10% program management).
• Manage software configuration, versioning, branch management, and release notes.
• Coordinate cross-functional releases globally with ODC teams (India, Poland, China, South Korea).
• Manage monthly server and app releases, supporting upcoming flagship product demos (e.g., January 2027 releases).
• Support flexible hours (early mornings, late evenings, occasional weekends) due to global team alignment.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree with relevant professional experience.
• Great Communication & Coordination Skills, should handle releases with minimal supervision
• Core Skills: Software Development Life Cycle (Waterfall, Agile), CI/CD, SCM tools (GitHub, GitLab), Kubernetes, and containerization.
• Preferred Skills: Hands-on DevOps experience, consumer electronics/app experience, and basic scripting (Bash/Python).
• Certifications: PMP is preferred/optional (not mandatory).

Job Summary:

Ensure that the various component projects of a particular software release meet customer needs and are brought together and released on time with high quality, and the overall release reflects the best choices amount scope, costs, and time for the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform with project managers, development teams and system administrators for development, evaluation, test and launch phases of software development life cycle.

• Configure and release software application updates to QA along with Production environments.

• Collect and provide ongoing project feedback to change management organization.

• Recommend process improvements alternative to roll out tools and processes.

• Develop apt reporting tools and information depository to measure conformance to entire processes and utilization of tools through monthly metrics.

• Head and direct collaborative efforts of release and developed management standards.

• Define, rollout and on-going project management for professional provided services.

• Identify new tools and technologies to develop release streams and builds.

• Assist Configuration Management processes to be more reliable, efficient and cost effective.

• Perform routine project activities required to manage release by test production and environments.

• Manage and comply release schedule and main release milestones throughout programs.

• Search and report product release dependencies throughout projects.

• Help cross-program planning to oversee dependencies and solve conflicts.

• Lead impact evaluation on basis of project date changes and convey results.

• Conduct and influence actively program development, management, testing along with operations on release and development processes. Responsible for leading all release-related matters which span across multiple projects while handling changing priorities and tight deadlines.

• Support global client's releases for all device targets and locales working with DevOps and global release management team

• Build and track processes to ensure releases are efficient and effective in accordance to development schedule

• Experience building processes, project management, and release schedules on a global scale.

• PMP Certification is a plus
