CNC Grinding Machinist - 2nd Shift (Precision / Aerospace)

At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in finishing critical components where surface integrity, dimensional accuracy, and consistency are essential. The Work You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate CNC and manual grinding equipment in a precision machining environment Perform surface and precision grinding operations on aerospace components Work from blueprints, operation sheets, and work instructions to meet exact specifications Make adjustments to offsets and machine parameters to maintain quality Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and dial calipers Hold tight tolerances on critical features and surfaces Perform in-process inspection to ensure parts meet print requirements Support production flow by preparing parts for downstream operations Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve machining and quality issues Machines, Controls & Software You’ll work with equipment such as: Machines: CNC grinding machines and surface grinders, including Campbell grinders and other precision grinding equipment Controls: Fanuc and other CNC control systems depending on equipment Inspection Tools: Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, dial calipers, and other precision measuring tools Materials You’ll Work With Inconel Titanium Stainless Steel Other aerospace alloys What We’re Looking For Required 3+ years of CNC grinding or machining experience Experience setting up and operating precision grinding equipment or CNC machines Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T Strong attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerances Experience using precision measuring instruments Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a team-based manufacturing environment Preferred (Not Required) Aerospace manufacturing experience Experience with surface grinding or precision grinding operations Familiarity with Fanuc controls Pay, Benefits & Schedule Pay Range: $28 – $38/hr (DOE) Pay Notes: 15% shift differential for 2nd shift Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the 1st of the month following start date 401(k) with 50% match on the first 6% 4% retirement contribution deposited into the 401(k) plan Quarterly incentive opportunities Yearly performance bonus 100% education reimbursement after 1 year PTO: 2 weeks in year one plus 4 floating holidays Flex time program Discounted Care.com membership Discounted Calm app membership Schedule: Monday–Friday 2nd Shift | 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM Overtime available, but not required #J-18808-Ljbffr Barnes Aerospace
