CNC Machinist 2nd Shift

Job Overview Machining Floater - 2nd shift operating a braze technician role in the machine shop at Maag Gala Inc., located in Eagle Rock, VA. Full‑time, FLSA Class, reports to Machine Shop Supervisor. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints. Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including manual machines on the shop floor. Establish zero and reference points for each part. Understand work holding systems with manual and automated machines. Read and use measuring tools such as micrometers, depth micrometers, and calipers. Work from set‑up sheets from programmers. Efficiently use each machine on the floor. Install machining programs into the machine. Send correct offsets to each tool being used. Monitor and replace worn tools as needed. Dimensionally and visually inspect the product to ensure it meets all print and customer requirements. Other tasks as assigned by the manager. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent (technical skills a plus). Machining Fundamentals I & II course available after hire. Desirable: Machinist / Tool Maker apprenticeship card (e.g., journeyman) and technical training/certifications. Professional Experience Mandatory: Machining/manufacturing background related to the position. Desirable: CNC programming/set‑up/operation, wire and plunge EDM experience, certificate in machining. Interpersonal & Behavioral Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized and efficient in approaching tasks. Independent self‑starter who can problem‑solve and anticipate issues. Strong team player with strong work ethic and commitment to win. Customer‑focused. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Machine shop environment with exposure to airborne particles, metal shavings, sharp cutting tools, moving mechanical parts; PPE and hearing protection required, including steel‑toed shoes. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Schedule Monday to Thursday 2‑shift; possible weekends or holidays as needed.
