As our Purchasing Agent, you'll play a vital role in the success of commercial construction projects by sourcing quality materials, negotiating competitive pricing, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring every project has what it needs, exactly when it needs it. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinking strategically, and collaborating with project teams to deliver exceptional results. What You'll Do Source and purchase construction materials, equipment, and services for multiple commercial projects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and favorable purchasing terms. Analyze bids and quotations to ensure the best value while maintaining quality standards. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Accounting to ensure seamless procurement. Track purchase orders from issuance through delivery and resolve any discrepancies. Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchasing strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiency. Research new suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings without sacrificing quality. Stay current on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and material availability. Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and project specifications. Maintain organized purchasing records and documentation. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and project cost tracking. What We're Looking For 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably within the construction industry. Strong understanding of commercial construction materials, equipment, and supplier networks. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Exceptional organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experience reviewing contracts, bids, and vendor proposals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with construction management or ERP software is highly preferred. Ability to build lasting relationships with vendors and internal project teams. Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
