Healthcare Compliance Officer

Location: Remote (US-based) We are seeking a Healthcare Compliance Officer to design and lead a comprehensive compliance program across the clinical and operational areas of a third-party administrator. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity available fully remote within the United States. This role is best aligned for a compliance professional who works at the intersection of strategy, regulation, and organizational culture. You will build the program from policy through training, run risk-based audits across revenue cycle and clinical documentation, lead investigations to root cause and corrective action, and report program performance to leadership and the board. The ideal candidate brings regulatory depth, investigative precision, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance for staff at every level. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive compliance programs aligned with OIG guidance and regulatory priorities Oversee HIPAA Privacy and Security programs including business associate agreement management, training, and annual risk analyses Lead risk-based internal audits across revenue cycle, coding, and clinical documentation to identify compliance gaps Manage compliance investigations from intake through root cause analysis and corrective action planning Oversee ethics hotline operations including investigation, resolution, and confidential outcome tracking Monitor federal and state regulatory changes and implement policy adjustments within defined timelines Develop and maintain compliance policies and the code of conduct in alignment with current law Build and deliver role-specific compliance training covering HIPAA, fraud and abuse, coding, and ethics Prepare and present quarterly and annual compliance reports to leadership and board committees Manage responses to external audits and regulatory inquiries including MAC additional documentation requests and state Medicaid reviews Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, Business, or a related field required; JD, MHA, or MBA preferred CHC certification from HCCA required; CHPC, CHC-F, or CHRC preferred Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare compliance experience required, including 2 years in a leadership capacity Expertise in HIPAA Privacy and Security, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, the False Claims Act, and federal exclusion authorities required Demonstrated experience designing internal audits with defined sampling methodology and preparing audit reports Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding sufficient to review documentation and billing accuracy Experience managing regulatory investigations and external audits including OIG inquiries and state Medicaid audits Strong written communication and executive presentation skills Schedule Full-time position Fully remote within the United States Monday through Friday, standard business hours Salary Range The salary range for this position is approximately $115,000 – $145,000 annually ($55.29 – $69.71 per hour), based on experience and qualifications.
