Labor and Delivery NurseWill take L&D, recovery, postpartum, women's health patients, recovering of babies. High risk OB. Transfer out for major maternal or fetal complications, if mom has major cardiac issue or baby needs surgery. Beds: 18 LDRP rooms + 6 triage spaces + 8 beds shared w/ med surg that are women's care center overflow such as hysters, slings, etc, 2 OR rooms that nurses self circulate. Certs: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN advanced fetal monitoring required. Ratios: Follow CA state guidelines; 4 to 1 couplets 3 to 1 stable antepartums; 2 to 1 L&D 1 to 1 for deliveries (a second NRP nurse is in every birth so nurse not only nurse in delivery). EMR: Cerner, fetal links, HUGS for infant security. Charge Nurse: Nurse Manager is the supervisor who covers 24/7 (12 hr shifts) and then L&D and each has a resource nurse who is like a charge nurse who helps w/ breaks etc. Nurse Aides: OB techs that scrub. Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per every weeks (usually two days together and the other two spread apart). Holidays: Must work a major and a minor. Scrub Color: L&D scrubs are provided, but they need to have navy blue scrubs as well and they want the nurses to wear navy scrubs to work each day to change out of. Tele: remove fetal monitoring. Vents: none. OB and anesthesia: 24/7 in house coverage. IV Team: Must be able to start own IV's. RT 24/7: Yes. Pharmacy 24/7: Yes. Call: Can be placed on standby as needed, when census needs it. If on standby & called in, response time is 30mins.
