Assistant Residential Manager (Queens)

A nonprofit in Queens is seeking a Residential Assistant Manager to support their group home for adults with developmental disabilities. The Residential Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the Residence Manager with the day-to-day operations of a community residential program. This position ensures high-quality care for residents while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and agency standards.

Job Function:

• Support the Residence Manager in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
• Supervise and guide direct support staff, including participation in evaluations and performance management
• Assist with staff scheduling and provide coverage as needed to maintain appropriate staffing levels
• Help oversee daily residential operations, including:
  • House and vehicle maintenance
  • Fire safety procedures
  • Accuracy of resident and staff documentation
• Collaborate on individualized service plans tailored to each resident's needs, preferences, and goals
• Ensure direct care staff deliver person-centered, high-quality services
• When applicable, support oversight of medical-related services, including:
  • Appointment coordination
  • Medication administration monitoring
  • Maintenance of medical documentation
• Ensure residents' basic needs are consistently met (food, clothing, hygiene, personal belongings)
• Act as a liaison with interdisciplinary teams to review service outcomes and quality of care
• Participate in team meetings and program development initiatives
• Assist in developing ideas to enhance residents' quality of life
• Complete required training programs and assist in training staff as needed
• Schedule:
  • Must work one weekend day each week
  • Two consecutive days off (either Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday)
  • Schedule includes a mix of day and evening shifts
  • No overnight shifts required
  • Shifts vary based on location and operational needs (not a fixed schedule)
  • Candidates should have flexibility to work both daytime and evening hours
    (Note: Some programs may include later shifts such as 3pm-11pm, but schedules are not limited to one set pattern. )

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or HSE required
• 12-18 months of related experience
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities required
• Supervisory experience in a residential setting is preferred
• Knowledge of relevant regulations in developmental disability services preferred
• Strong ability to:
  • Plan, organize, and implement programs
  • Lead and support staff effectively
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, and external partners
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
• Flexible and adaptable with scheduling
• Strong leadership and team support skills
• Experience in residential or group home environments
• Passion for supporting individuals and improving quality of life
