SY 26-27 SPED Intervention Specialist- Resource Room Full-time Subject: Special Education Start Date: Next year opening Department: School-based Support KIPP Columbus is looking for a highly qualified Special Educator who has a track record of instructional excellence and who is willing to continuously go above and beyond for students. Our KIPP team is committed to leading and teaching through an anti‑racist lens and are responsible for delivering effective, rigorous instruction in their content areas that produce high‑quality results and student understanding. The Diverse Learning Team at KIPP Columbus provides crucial services to students with disabilities. In this role, educators provide specially designed instruction in small groups to students on their assigned caseload while also teaching content specific materials. The Resource Room Intervention Specialist will teach Math or English courses required to meet graduation requirements to students with disabilities in a group of no more than 16 students per period. The Resource Room Intervention Specialist will provide specially designed instruction to students on their caseload and lead transition activities during their diverse learning lab period. Responsibilities Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Design and execute individualized instructional strategies aligned with the Ohio Learning Standards to address the unique needs of special education students Provide direct intervention for students with disabilities in the special education setting Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet students' unique learning needs Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic growth Serve as a liaison between students, teachers, families, and related service providers Ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and MTSS meetings Implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports Provide social‑emotional learning (SEL) support to students with disabilities Utilize de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies Assess students' academic and behavioral progress using formal and informal assessments Maintain documentation and progress reports for IEPs Adjust instructional strategies based on data‑driven decision‑making Adhere to the Operating Standards for Ohio’s Schools Serving Children with Disabilities, ensuring proper placement, instruction, and evaluation of students with disabilities Ensure adherence to federal and state special education laws Ensure adherence to board policies and district procedures Stay updated on best practices in inclusive education through ongoing training Actively involve parents and colleagues as learning partners, fostering a collaborative approach to student development Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License or willingness to pursue certification by start date through one of 3 pathways: Traditional, Alternative, Supplemental Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required Ability to demonstrate content knowledge in Math or English Experience using Ohio’s Extended Learning Standards Experience participating in ETR meetings and writing ETR part 1 Experience writing IEPs, progress monitoring, progress reporting & data collection Experience using SameGoal to create special education documents Belief that outstanding school leaders, staff, and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem‑solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community Willingness and commitment to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students Ability to multi‑task and work within an ambiguous, fast‑moving, start‑up environment while driving toward clarity and solutions Excellent written and oral communication skills Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high levels of responsibility and multiple priorities Model the values of KIPP Columbus (Imagine, Navigate, Seek, Persevere, Integrity, Responsibility, and Empathy) Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary Medical and dental insurance Group term life insurance Retirement plan Paid time off Statement of Non-Disclosure KIPP Columbus is committed to a policy of equal treatment for all individuals applying to the school for consideration of any position (admission, employment, etc.).
