Registered Nurse (RN)

Regular shifts are from 1900 to 0715, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week and requirements for every other weekend and holiday shifts. There is no on-call requirement for this position.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, which includes ongoing assessment of the patient's total health needs. The RN implements interventions to address presenting symptoms and evaluates the results of nursing interventions and patient responses. Acting as both a team leader and member, the RN supports and directs other staff, ensuring a collaborative approach with an interdisciplinary team to establish patient goals and outcomes. The RN is responsible for addressing the needs of diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• (40%) Regularly assess patients' needs and deliver nursing services in accordance with physician-approved plans of care and evidence-based nursing practices.
• (30%) Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, patient education, assistance with transfers, and responding to alarms.
• (20%) Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with team members to update or revise these plans, utilizing current information to enhance patient care.
• (10%) Maintain knowledge of and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as hospital-specific policies and procedures regarding patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Experience in a Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is required.
• Recent travel work history is highly preferred.
• Candidates must have a permanent address within a 50-mile radius for a contract opportunity.

Profile Requirements

• Work history.
• Skills checklist, current within the last year, relevant to the specialty (PCU).
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
• Active Michigan nursing license (verification through LARA and/or Nursys).
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Active NIHSS certification.
