School NurseJob Description Qualifications: 1. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi 2. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by administration Supervises: N/A Reports To: Director of Exceptional Children and Health Services Job Goal: To provide health services to all students Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to: 1. Develop, implement, and monitor health plans for students with acute and chronic illnesses. 2. Coordinates school and community health activities as a liaison health professional between the home, school, and community 3. Assists teachers, principals, and administrators in developing school health program 4. Assists school health programs of physical examinations, hearing screenings, and vision screenings 5. Implement educational activities to promote health and wellness 6. Provides and/or supervises care for students with special needs 7. Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters 8. Provides health education and anticipatory guidance to teachers and staff on common health conditions 9. Serves as a liaison health professional between parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters 10. Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures 11. Makes recommendations/referrals on health needs of individual students 12. Implements policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases 13. Participates in staff development programs 14. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance 15. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan 16. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees Evaluation: Annually
