About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This is a MedSurg/Tele nursing position. The unit consists of 32 beds with an average daily patient census of 32. The patient population includes individuals with strokes, respiratory illnesses (flu, pneumonia, COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis needs, and wounds. Patient ratios will typically be 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios of 1:7-8 for RN and LPN. The CNA ratio is 1:10. CNA responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, and feeding. Support services available include phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, rapid response team, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring. The department utilizes electronic medical records and various monitoring equipment. Virtual nursing technology is available to provide additional patient monitoring and support for admissions and discharges. Staff may be required to float within the regional facilities as needed. Weekend rotation is expected every other weekend. Employees may be called back for low census situations. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if not fulfilled.
