Facilities Mechanical and Controls Engineer

Position Facilities Mechanical and Controls Engineer (Santa Clara, California) Overview Provide technical leadership for the reliability, performance, and safety of mechanical, HVAC, and control systems across critical laboratory and facility environments. Oversee equipment health, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards. Responsibilities Ensure availability, reliability, and maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems (oil‑free air, chilled water, boilers, environmental abatement, exhaust). Maintain safety and environmental compliance objectives for all mechanical systems. Design, analyze, and troubleshoot mechanical and control systems; provide recommendations and solutions. Develop engineering scopes, conduct feasibility studies, and evaluate design of mechanical projects. Oversee industrial instrumentation and automation systems—calibration, programming, and maintenance. Perform root‑cause failure analysis and manage long‑term improvement initiatives. Collaborate with business units, operations teams, and IFM service providers to meet operational goals. Develop and execute a systems roadmap and asset‑replacement strategy to support facility expansion and growth. Guide and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 5+ years of experience in large‑scale manufacturing or commercial mechanical engineering facilities. 5+ years of field experience with HVAC, fans, boilers, chillers, pumps, piping, valves, and control systems (instrumentation, PLCs, etc.). Proven aptitude for transitioning from hands‑on roles to system ownership and vendor‑driven maintenance oversight. Track record of mentoring and leading technical teams in critical environments. Proficiency in troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and interpreting P&IDs. Additional Information Shift: Shift 1 (United States of America). Job Type: Experienced Hire.
