Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a dynamic nursing role. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and the willingness to float as needed in a busy and expansive Level 1 Trauma environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a range of complex diagnoses, including heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, arrhythmias, and MICU overflow.
• Work closely with a healthcare team, including hospitalists and intensivists, who are available 24/7.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous drips, with particular attention to titratable and set rate medications, such as epinephrine and norepinephrine.
• Competently operate and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
• Interpret cardiac telemetry strips and respond promptly to patient needs, including suctioning and emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with patient care assistants to support patient hygiene and daily tasks where applicable.

Schedule and Orientation

Shifts are primarily 7a-7p with a requirement for every other weekend. While self-scheduling is encouraged, flexibility is needed to accommodate unit needs. New employees will participate in two shifts of unit-specific orientation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a high-volume acute care or trauma setting.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.
• Experience with ventilators, managing pressors, and hemodynamics including PAC, CVP, and arterial lines.
• Ability to perform advanced nursing skills such as sedation and paralysis when necessary.

Additional Information

• The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 ratios based on patient needs.
• Patient Care Assistants provide minimal support, typically serving all 18 beds if available.
• Covering holidays and ensuring optimal patient care is essential, with occasional exemptions based on staffing needs.
