Job Description

The Process Engineer for Electronics Manufacturing plays a critical role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing SMT and PCB assembly processes. This engineer programs and sets up key manufacturing equipment, supports New Product Introduction (NPI), and leads troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality. Working closely with a medium-sized team, the engineer focuses on continuous process improvements without the need for travel, utilizing pick-and-place programming software extensively.

 

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve SMT and PCB assembly processes
• Program and set up pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, and AOI systems
• Create and maintain machine programs, component libraries, feeder setups, and production recipes
• Prepare jobs for production using BOM, Gerber, ODB++, and pick-and-place data
• Develop and optimize reflow profiles; troubleshoot SMT, soldering, placement, and inspection defects
• Support NPI by managing new PCB assemblies from customer data through first article and production release
• Develop tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures
• Troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Support through-hole, rework, inspection, conformal coating, potting, and final assembly processes
• Drive quality, yield, cycle time, equipment utilization, and overall manufacturing efficiency improvements
• Train and support production personnel on equipment setup, operation, and manufacturing processes

 

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years in electronics manufacturing process engineering
