Medical Laboratory Scientist II - per diem

Job Summary Medical Laboratory Scientist II – works as Testing Personnel and General Supervisor under CLIA definitions. Responsible for performing waived and non‑waived testing, supervising laboratory operations, ensuring quality control, training staff, and maintaining accurate records. Essential Functions Perform specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results in accordance with laboratory SOP. Maintain proficiency testing records and calibrations, document all quality control activities. Identify and correct problems that affect test performance; report deviations to supervisors or clinical consultants. Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications. Supervise assigned workstations, including QC review, training, competency assessment, and inventory management. Follow corrective‑action policies when test systems fall outside acceptable levels. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Sciences. Medical Technologist certification (ASCP) required. 1–2 years laboratory experience required. Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance and repair, and analytic techniques. Ability to work independently, evaluate situations, multitask, and adhere to protocols. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with physicians, hospital staff, and patients. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
