CNC Field Service Technician

Summary of Responsibility A Field Service Technician is a key member of the Customer Support Department and is primarily responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC Lathe, Milling, and Multi‑Functional Machining Centers. What You Will Contribute Daily travel to customer facilities with occasional overnight stays. Demonstrate teamwork and a willingness to help others. Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, diagnose and repair CNC equipment and accessories; provide operator training, networking, preventive maintenance, major assembly replacements, overhauls, upgrades, and uninstallation services. Serve as a direct communication link between customers and the Service Group. Provide voice‑of‑customer feedback. Build brand dedication through service and customer relationships. Conduct travel and work safely while continually learning new technology and soft skills. Apply machine‑tool manuals, technical documents and external authorities to diagnose and resolve CNC equipment issues. Use the Salesforce Lightning Customer Support system effectively. Qualifications & Competencies Proficient verbal and written communication and customer‑relation skills. Ability to interact and effectively communicate in person and over the phone with customers and co‑workers. Professional appearance and image. Adaptability to changes and ability to handle delays or general work‑related issues. Basic digital literacy and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Willingness and capability to develop electro‑mechanical skills (motors, drives, transformers, etc.). Knowledge of machine‑tool manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance & repair or a broad shop background—an advantage. Basic mechanical and logical problem‑solving skills. Rational decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Work Environment Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments with possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated or manual machinery. Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks. Ability to sit for prolonged periods. Ability to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Ability to frequently use hands and arms. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites with tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment. Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas. Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work. Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
