Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Bone Marrow Transplant unit requiring 2+ years of inpatient oncology experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• 30-bed inpatient unit specializing in blood and marrow transplantation care for adult oncology patients
• 3x12-hour Day/Night rotating/variable shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios typically 1:3-1:5
• Floating required between like units, including possible placement on medical oncology unit with similar patient population
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient oncology experience required
• Prior experience with patient ratios of 1:3-1:5 preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, port access/management, central line care, and chemotherapy administration required
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, hemorrhage) required
• Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma preferred
• Pain management skills including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management required

Additional Information

• Provide direct inpatient care for adult patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Administer chemotherapy and monitor for complications including tumor lysis syndrome, extravasation, and sepsis
• Provide psychosocial support including patient/family education, advanced directive discussions, and hospice coordination
• Manage symptom control for issues such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Minimal RTO accommodated, with none permitted during the first two weeks of assignment
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Any color scrubs permitted
