Food Service Cook / Dietary Aide

This role prepares, cooks, portions, and presents a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. The position supports consistent, high-quality food service while following established standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, and cook a wide range of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events.
• Follow established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of all food items.
• Set up, maintain, and break down food service lines, ensuring all items are stocked, properly labeled, and attractively displayed.
• Assist with food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, assembling, and plating food items to support timely meal service.
• Work on the line during meal periods, serving or assembling meals in an efficient, accurate, and courteous manner.
• Support dietary service functions as needed, including basic dietary aide or dietary clerk tasks related to food service and meal delivery.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Use kitchen equipment and tools safely and correctly, reporting any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from supervisors to meet production schedules and service timelines.
• Comply with all onboarding, assignment confirmation, and organizational requirements before starting work.

Essential Skills

• Experience in food preparation, including working as a line cook, dietary aide, or in a similar foodservice role.
• Ability to accurately and efficiently prepare, cook, and portion hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods.
• Strong understanding of basic foodservice operations, including line setup, meal service, and food presentation.
• Capability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety procedures consistently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in food portioning, labeling, and presentation.
• Reliability in meeting onboarding and assignment confirmation requirements prior to starting work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a dietary aide or dietary clerk in a foodservice or healthcare environment is beneficial.
• Experience as a line cook or similar role in a commercial kitchen or institutional foodservice setting.
• Familiarity with catering or special event food preparation and service.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with multiple meal periods and service demands.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Framingham, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
