Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of specialty OR experience for a night shift hospital operating room position with call requirements.

Details

• Fully-equipped hospital operating room with 13 ORs plus a procedure/cysto room
• Unit performs an average of 45 cases per day
• Case types include orthopedic, spine, general, colon, breast, podiatry, urology, robotic, GYN, plastics, and CVOR procedures including CABG, TAVR, vascular and thoracic cases
• 10-hour night shifts, Monday through Thursday, 19:00-5:30
• 40 standard hours per week
• Weekend rotation typically for call only
• Call required with 30-minute response time and sleep room available
• Main OR call rotation includes 3-4 weeknight calls (12hr shifts 7p-7a) and 1-2 weekend shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) per 6-week schedule
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Support staff includes OR assistants, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, and 24/7 anesthesia/CRNA coverage
• No floating required

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of OR experience in specialty area required
• Must have completed an accredited Surgical Technologist education program prior to start
• BLS certification required
• National certification preferred
• CVOR experience must include strong and recent CABG, TAVR, vascular, and thoracic case experience
• Experience scrubbing in orthopedic, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, urology, robotic, GYN, colon, breast, spine, podiatry, and plastic surgery cases
• License required if applicable
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Facility is a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center with no trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital
• Orientation is 1 week for Main OR and 2 weeks for CVOR, structured as five 8-hour shifts
• Holiday coverage required approximately 75% of holidays, in rotation, either working or on call
• RTO requires manager approval

• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
• Manager will conduct a final clinical interview
