The role focuses on developing practical competencies in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, business management, technology applications, and workplace professionalism, while promoting critical thinking, problem‑solving, collaboration, and effective communication through real‑world learning experiences. Minimum Requirements Eligible or hold valid State of Delaware certification as a Business Education Teacher or accessible through Alternative Routes for Certification (ARTC) Acceptable criminal background report with no entries on Delaware’s Child Protection Registry Successful completion of required Praxis II tests and student teaching placement, or participation in ARTC Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; master’s degree preferred Preference given for knowledge of finance, accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, economics, and technology Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, and the public Evidence of knowledge of evidence‑based, research‑based strategies for promoting student learning and achievement Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of culturally, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse student groups Proficiency in technology such as Microsoft and Google applications, Classlink, Schoology, Infinite Campus, etc. Demonstrated ability to perform job‑related tasks Regular attendance is an essential function of the position Ability to teach/serve students remotely and in person as needed Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and deliver instruction aligned with CCSS using district‑approved curriculum Differentiated instruction for diverse learning styles and academic levels in business education Implement and monitor evidence‑based behavioral and social‑emotional interventions and a structured classroom management system Administer, collect, and interpret formal and informal assessment data to guide instruction and report progress to families and the district Develop and deliver weekly lesson plans incorporating technology and balanced instructional strategies Communicate proactively with families about student progress and participate in IEP meetings and other required conferences Administer required informal and formal assessments in accordance with state regulations and district expectations Establish and maintain professional relationships with peers, support staff, parents, administration, agency staff, and district staff Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and policies, completing required paperwork timely and maintaining professionalism Attend required and self‑selected professional development, training, and workshops Maintain current certifications and stay current on evidence‑based instructional strategies and technology Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor Physical Demand Employees must regularly use hands and fingers for handling, reaching, and using technology; frequently stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
