Research Coordinator I - Pediatrics - Center for Research Advancement Job Description Job Title: Research Coordinator I - Pediatrics - Center for Research Advancement Division: Pediatrics Work Arrangement: Hybrid Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $39,150 - $46,059 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Summary Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Rheumatology and Center for Research Advancement is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual to support the Rheumatology research programs at Texas Children’s Hospital. The Research Coordinator I, will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of research protocols, including screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. The role will primarily support clinical research activities for the Care and Outcome Improvement Network, The Arthritis Foundation, BRAINWORKS and NORSE registries within the Rheumatology Division. Job Duties Study Coordination & Participant Management (30%) Coordinate and oversee day-to-day activities of assigned research protocols and registries. Screen, recruit, enroll, and consent eligible research participants. Conduct chart reviews to identify potential research participants. Educate participants and families regarding study objectives, procedures, and requirements. Maintain communication with participants throughout study participation. Monitor research participants according to study protocols and reporting requirements. Collect participant data through questionnaires, interviews, and medical record review. Evaluate and analyze clinical research data under direct supervision. Retrieve and submit study-related test results for investigator and sponsor review. Data Collection, Extraction, & Entry (30%) Ensure proper documentation of research activities according to protocol requirements and institutional policies. Maintains study records. Extract clinical and research data from electronic medical records. Enter study information into research databases and registries. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of research data. Biospecimen & Laboratory Management (30%) Collect, process, label, store, and ship blood and other biological specimens according to protocol requirements. Maintain specimen tracking logs and supporting documentation. Coordinate laboratory-related study activities and testing procedures. Conduct protocol-required testing and ensure proper handling of research materials. Administrative & Quality Assurance (10%) Maintain and organize study files, records, and databases. Order and manage research supplies and equipment. Maintain inventory of study supplies and materials. Review study materials and research activities to ensure compliance with IRB-approved protocols. Support audit readiness and compliance monitoring activities. Performs other job duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Three years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience required with preferred degree. Experience with REDCap, Epic, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience interacting with patients, including recruiting participants and obtaining consent. Experience working with adolescent and/or adult populations. Experience processing biological samples is a plus. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required. Work Authorization Requirement This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
