Inseego products and SaaS solutions are designed and developed in the USA. Position Overview Inseego is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer, Baseband to work onsite in San Diego, CA. The Principal Hardware Engineer, Baseband serves as a core contributor to the Product Development Team, supporting the full lifecycle from concept through final product release by designing hardware architectures and translating product requirements into detailed specifications. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior engineers, working effectively across cross‑functional teams, utilizing tools such as Visio and Cadence, communicating clearly, and completing occasional travel as needed. Responsibilities Design and document hardware architectures for mobile and fixed wireless devices. Define and create hardware specifications from product requirement documentation. Work with component vendors on device specifications and cost. Provide trade‑off analysis for management to make informed decisions. Perform schematic capture and oversee PCB layout. Test and validate designs to ensure they meet design requirements. Work as part of the Product Development Team from concept to final product release. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience; master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of current and emerging hardware technologies. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Strong experience working with cross‑functional engineering teams. Good understanding of global wireless carrier requirements related to WCDMA, LTE, and 5G technologies. Experience in design and development of microprocessor, memory, power management, charging, and USB circuits. Experience with high‑volume product development and manufacturing required. Experience with layout and simulation of high‑speed interfaces required. Experience with Qualcomm SDX, MSM, APQ ICs preferred. Experienced with Visio creating block diagrams required. Superior problem‑solving skills at board level with strong layout skills required. Salary Range Salary Range: $150,000–$175,000 This base pay range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
