Accounting Manager

The Fountain Group is currently seeking an Accounting Manager for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Philadelphia, PA or Riverwoods, IL . Details for the position are as follows:

Location: Philadelphia, PA or Riverwoods, IL (Hybrid - 2-3 days/week onsite)
Pay Rate (Upon Conversion): $140K base salary + 15% Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP)
Assignment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days onsite)
Job Description:
The Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls and external regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical thinker with strong leadership skills and a recent background in GL functions . • Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support month-end close and reporting processes per internal reporting calendar.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff; provide guidance, feedback, and support to enhance performance.
• Review, analyze, and approve general ledger transactions for accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual balance sheet reconciliations.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues proactively; escalate with solutions as needed.
• Provide documentation and professional support for internal and external audits.
• Maintain up-to-date desktop procedures and process checklists.
• Ensure timely execution of all close and reporting tasks.
• Prepare and review financial analyses and supporting schedules.
• Collaborate across internal teams and with third-party providers to ensure smooth accounting operations.
• Drive continuous improvement through analysis and process optimization.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items to maintain compliance.
• Support staff through business changes and transitions.
• Take initiative to identify opportunities, follow through on projects, and recommend solutions.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BBA or BS) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA or active progress toward certification strongly preferred .
• Experience:
  • 7-9 years of accounting/audit experience, including 2-3 years in a managerial role.
  • Recent (within 1-2 years) hands-on experience managing GL teams is required.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Month-end close processes
    • Journal entry review/preparation
    • Balance sheet and bank reconciliations
    • Intercompany transactions
    • Audit support
  • International accounting experience is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Great Plains, or NetSuite) and Blackline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
• Other Requirements:
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with accelerated close timelines (3-5 days).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Flexibility to support hybrid work schedules and reporting cycles.
