Police Recruit - Phoenix Police Department - July 2026

About This Position The Phoenix Police Department is offering a hiring bonus of $7,500 to new Police Recruits, paid in three equal installments: on the first paycheck, after swearing in as a Phoenix Police Officer, and following successful completion of probation. If the applicant is referred by a current city employee, that employee may receive a bonus of $2,500 once the applicant is successfully hired and has passed probation. Must specify the referring employee’s name and employee ID on the application. Police Recruits attend a 26‑week paid training program at the Phoenix Regional Police Academy (PRPA). Upon successful completion of the academy, Recruits become Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Certified and are promoted to Police Officer. After academy completion, new officers earn $36.46 per hour (approximately $75,847 annually). Additional compensation may be earned through overtime and off‑duty work. Officers receive annual raises and can earn up to $52.87 per hour ($109,984 annually).
