This role is for a strategic, execution-oriented project leader who sees sustainability as a core component of how healthcare is planned, delivered, and continuously improved. As the Senior Program Manager for the Sustainability Program Office You will play a highly visible and impactful role in implementing sustainability into clinical practice to reduce waste and cost. This role is ideal for someone who operates at a high level - owning complex, cross‑functional work end to end and partnering closely with clinical leadership, key stakeholder departments, and executive stakeholders to translate sustainability goals into successful outcomes. Lead enterprise sustainability pilots and scale successful models Conduct program documentation, training, and implementation Engage clinical partners to reduce waste, emissions, and inefficiencies Optimize processes such as preference cards and equipment use Analyze data and develop recommendations that support long‑term change Who You Are An experienced program or project manager, preferably with clinical experience, who enjoys implementation and getting work done Comfortable leading complex initiatives across multidisciplinary teams and keeping meticulous track in implementation plans Skilled in implementation, governance, and executive‑level communication and articulating next steps Curious, adaptable, and interested in sustainable healthcare in a large hospital The Facilities Services division enhances health through leadership, collaboration, and innovation. The Sustainability Program Office (SPO) function is dedicated to implementing sustainable initiatives that reduce our organization’s carbon footprint, conserve resources, and enhance the health and well‑being of our staff, patients, and communities. By fostering collaboration across departments and integrating environmental considerations into operations and facilities planning, SPO drives positive change and sets a standard for sustainability in the healthcare sector. A Brief Overview Leads large strategic and cross‑functional improvement programs by defining strategic intent of programs and overseeing deliverable development to ensure project goals are met. Locations Stanford Health Care What You Will Do Provide program leadership for large strategic and cross‑functional improvement programs as assigned by the Administrative Director. Manage, assess, and document project scope and program utilizing standard A3 template. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support strategic business goals in collaboration with the Administrative Director and other key stakeholders. Identify opportunities for process improvement and recognize and use synergies from other projects to design creative solutions for technological and non‑technological problems as well as identify future projects. Implement quality control measures to ensure project compliance with department, hospital and university policies, government codes and regulations; also ensures conformance to the requirements of all project participants. Manage program design and structure for department’s key initiatives and projects within assigned leadership division, develop strategic input for the Director regarding business objectives of clients for both current and future projects. Partner with Operations Manager(s) to identify and develop the leadership needs and internal capacity of the department, and facilitate strategic changes in project scope or assignment across the team. Coach and mentor department staff through change process and cycles of continuous improvement. Work with various departments and physician groups, develop relationships with key stakeholders, and understand their departmental workflows. Prepare and maintain accurate, coherent, timely and auditable project records and cost estimates, as applicable, within department guidelines. Provide leadership, coordination and support to all team members. Education Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in work‑related discipline/field from an accredited college or university Required Master degree in work related field from an accredited college.
