Purchasing Specialist

Role: Supports procurement activities for the health department, ensuring compliance with laws and policies. Serves as a subject matter expert on purchasing systems, assists staff with procurement tools, and reviews transactions for accuracy. Coordinates with vendors and program staff to facilitate timely and cost-effective purchasing. Responsibilities: Evaluates and processes purchase requests, manages competitive solicitations, develops procurement procedures, and supports contract administration. Provides administrative and confidential support to management, assists with procurement documentation, and ensures adherence to procurement policies. Offers guidance and training to staff on purchasing systems and procedures. Qualifications & Skills: Knowledge of vendor management, procurement laws, and software systems like MFMP/AOD and PWorks. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills are essential. Preferred experience with procurement platforms. Additional Duties: Supports fiscal operations such as monitoring transactions and billing, and participates in staff training.
