Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma experience - Ability to interpret EKGs - Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes Description: MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXPERIENCE. 50 MILE RADIUS RULE. Medical solutions pre-screens if clinical recommends. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Traveling staff must have their own vehicles. Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required. Men must be clean-shaven for fit tests. Pass/fail exam will be conducted on day one. All RNs will be expected to complete skills labs for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with exceptions as noted. Maintaining a sterile field is essential; those who breach it may be termed during skills labs. Common diagnoses include cardiac stepdown, lung transplant, chest pain, myocardial infarction, pre-transplant, esophagectomy, emergency room overflow, and detox. Travelers do not take transplant patients. Non-titrating drips are also required. The hospital can cancel shifts up to four times during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. Nurse aides are present on both days and nights. Floating to other telemetry units may be required. Weekend and holiday work is part of the staffing rotation.
