Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN): Med/Surg

The Acute Travel Registered Nurse will provide care in a medical/surgical unit within a specialty care environment. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Unit Details

• Facility Type: Specialty care hospital
• Trauma Level: 2
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics (ages 18-125)
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
• Equipment: Telemetry monitors, IV pumps, bladder scanners, and electronic health records (EHR) including Cerner

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the medical/surgical unit.
• Perform assessments and develop nursing care plans based on patient needs and hospital protocols.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding health conditions and discharge planning.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Licensure: Must have an active Michigan nursing license.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience in a medical/surgical setting.
• Certifications: ACLS certification required.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work independently in high-stress environments.

Work Schedule

This position involves working 7 PM to 7 AM shifts with rotating weekend hours. Orientation will be bi-weekly.

Dress Code

Scrub color is Galaxy Blue (Navy is acceptable). Attire must meet hygiene and safety standards, including clean fingernails and appropriate coverage of tattoos.
