Traffic Technician

Position will assist with collection of data for traffic studies, including traffic counts, speed studies, pedestrian movement, and turning movements. This position will review and process special event and work permits, and oversee the district's Adopt-A-Highway program. Position will assist with inspection of pavement markings and contracted guardrail repair. In addition, will assist with maintaining the district's signing inventory. Position will prepare and issue work orders for installation, repair or other maintenance needs of the roadside features. Position will also set up message boards when required and support Construction and Maintenance sections. This position is with the Traffic section. How does it get done? By performing various traffic duties. Who are the customers? Traveling public and pedestrians. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience in: Traffic studies Traffic control Highway Construction High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) months of experience in highway maintenance, construction, engineering, physical science, mathematics, surveying, drafting, highway design, traffic engineering, communications, dispatching, permits, and/or purchase orders. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) months may substitute for the required experience. Must possess or obtain and maintain a Driver's License, (or equivalent license from another state) within one (1) year of hire. Employment Requirements Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Reference check and Driver's License verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in the field or office with travel required. Work extended hours standing or sitting. May be exposed to inclement weather, traffic, construction equipment, uneven terrain, lift up to 50 lbs.
