Department: Behavioral & Social Sciences. Salary: Commensurate with experience. Position Overview University of Houston Tillman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine (UHCOM) is inviting applications for a non‑tenure track, open rank, Clinical Faculty position for a clinically prepared psychologist in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The appointment is 100% FTE, 80% effort divided among teaching, research, service, and 20% clinical service in the UH Family Care Center. Applicants seeking an appointment at the level of clinical full professor must be highly experienced in one or more of the educational areas described below in the form of development, implementation, and scholarship. Primary Responsibilities (80% effort) Teach in the four‑week Behavioral Medicine Course, including didactic and problem‑based learning sessions. Teach in problem‑based learning sessions in the Physicians, Patients and Populations Course and Longitudinal Clinical Experiences. Provide clinical teaching and supervision of multiple trainees in psychology, medicine, and other disciplines. Co‑develop or lead advanced elective experiences. Serve on UHCOM educational committees. Publish scholarly research and lead or collaborate on grant applications. Direct Patient Care (20% effort) Evaluate, treat, and consult on the behavioral health care of patients in the UHCOM Family Care Center. Supervise psychology graduate practicum students. Collaborate with other medical and behavioral health providers. Participate in community outreach activities. Appointment Details The faculty psychologist will provide direct patient care at the Family Care Center or a similar site, and lead the development and delivery of integrated behavioral health services. The appointment is within the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) at UHCOM, which includes faculty in psychology, psychiatry, social work, anthropology, medical ethics, public health and epidemiology. Qualifications Licensed or license‑eligible as a psychologist in the State of Texas. Doctoral degree from an APA‑accredited clinical or counseling program. Completion of required post‑doctoral degree practice. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching. Course leadership or potential for leadership. Potential to contribute to curriculum development in behavioral health, health behavior and promotion, wellness, and addressing the social determinants of health. Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of clinicians and faculty. Experience documenting with an electronic medical record. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience developing curriculum and teaching. Experience teaching medical students and residents. Experience contributing to quality improvement projects. Evidence of scholarly productivity. Experience implementing evidence‑based approaches to care. Proficiency with an asynchronous learning platform. Scholarship and/or clinical expertise in mind‑body related interventions, including their application to enhance trainee wellness. Bi‑lingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Chinese.
