Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take different and unique approaches to help children, youth and families thrive and succeed.Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Service Coordination Manager, this position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and friendly environment for all Good Samaritan visitors. Key responsibilities include informing families of Good Samaritan's mission and programs, conducting initial intake and making referrals to appropriate Good Samaritan services and community resources.Specific ResponsibilitiesReceive all visitors who enter the center, providing a positive and welcoming environmentSupport the coordination/facilitation of their assigned program, communicate with the Program Facilitator/Specialist to perform related data entry and track/enter participant's attendance.Ensure communication and interventions with visitors and participants are culturally relevant, acknowledge and value families' strengths, and are responsive to the multiple aspects of the diversity of the families servedExplain Good Samaritan classes and programs to participants, other service providers, and visitorsConduct Basic and Comprehensive Intakes through internal database (Salesforce, CMS) to new and returning Good Samaritan Participants which includes assessing needs, completing consent forms and keeping documents confidential.Pre-screen needs of those seeking services through agency's Basic Intake process to provide information and referrals to internal and external programsSupport participants through walk-in or scheduled appointments by providing information and helping them apply for public benefits, Below Market Rate (BMR) housing, and other available community programs and services.Work with other staff and service providers to ensure appropriate referrals and follow-up on referred participantsAnswer incoming calls, route callers or provide information as required in a professional mannerMaintain and update program referral and services information. Maintain and update internal Good Samaritan resources as well as latest community resources and referralsCo-facilitate and/or assist with Early Literacy curriculum and/or other workshopsPerform community research to identify and add new resources to our resource information guideMaintain the reception area clean and keep the work area organized following our latestDistribute Good Samaritan mail and handle incoming mail and deliveriesFollow security and emergency proceduresFollow guidance on access of visitors and monitor the safety of the buildingProvide administrative support to staff as neededMeet with Service Coordination Manager weekly, attend staff, team, and committee meetings as scheduledOther duties as assignedOther ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the strict maintenance of client confidentialityMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant work experienceBilingual Spanish/English required (in reading, writing, and speaking), bicultural preferredExperience working with Latino immigrant population and understanding of immigrant issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skills and public relation/customer services skillsExcellent and careful attention to detailAbility to work in a fast-paced, high need environmentMust possess good organizational and time-management skillsDemonstrate good judgment and have excellent problem-solving abilitiesAlways maintain a professional demeanor and always maintain confidentialityMust be able to work evenings and weekends as neededMust be self-motivated, have excellent work ethic and be able to work independentlyProficient in Outlook Suite (Word, Mail, Excel, etc.)Desired QualificationsKnowledge of Mission District and citywide resourcesPrevious experience in or understanding of the family resource center and/or family strengthening modelsTraining or experience in the areas or early childhood and/or youth developmentExperience with the practice of conflict management and de-escalation methodsRequirementsMust complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index).Must have TB clearance and current Covid Vaccine Card.Candidates must go through a background check after a conditional offer is made.Bilingual (Spanish and English)Physical RequirementsThis position is set up in an office environment.
