Salary: $60,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements:

• Experience in transportation, government, or other public-sector environments is a plus.

• We administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
• We perform operating system upgrades, patch installation, testing, and system updates.
• We develop and use PowerShell scripts and automation tools for repetitive and centralized infrastructure tasks.
• We lead server migrations and move workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
• We carry out infrastructure upgrades, remediation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for critical systems.
• We implement and maintain server security controls, including endpoint protection, access management, and hardening.
• We remediate vulnerabilities across servers and applications.
• We work with security tools and processes to sustain infrastructure protection and monitoring.

• We perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes for recurring production problems.
• We apply our networking knowledge to diagnose connectivity and application issues.
• We troubleshoot network and system integration problems across infrastructure and application layers.
• We collaborate with application, networking, security, and infrastructure teams on deployments and enhancements.
• We translate business and user needs into practical technical solutions.
• We communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

We are Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and we are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a long-term project based in Richmond, VA. This is a W2-only opportunity. The role supports a hybrid infrastructure environment and offers the chance to work on mission-critical enterprise systems, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, security, automation, backup and disaster recovery, and production application support in collaboration with infrastructure, application, security, and IT leadership teams.
