Storeroom Specialist Department: Technical Services / Maintenance Location: Indianapolis, IN Reports To: Reliability Manager Date Prepared: September 2026 Hourly Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 Shift: Mon - Friday 3pm - 11pm Position Summary The Storeroom Specialist is accountable for the comprehensive management, security, physical condition, and operational excellence of multiple manufacturing plant asset storerooms. This role directly handles an active parts inventory valued over $4.5MM, executing critical support to safeguard capital production machinery maintaining a Replacement Asset Value (RAV) exceeding $125MM. Primary aims involve optimizing spare part stock boundaries, executing accurate check-out workflows, and fostering tight collaborative dynamics across the maintenance, planning, and procurement units. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Inventory Flow Management: Own and regulate stock movements through receipt confirmation, system entries, shelf replenishment, and accurate checkout protocols tied to specific plant work orders. CMMS Integrity & Data Maintenance: Enforce absolute precision across the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database by standardizing incorrect manufacturer descriptions, updating component parts numbers, and inputting fresh material asset tags. Cycle Counting & System Auditing: Lead and organize regular cycle counts and full physical structural evaluations utilizing internal and external personnel to identify operational leaks and reconcile variances. Vendor & Procurement Management: Create replenishment and new-item stock requisitions. Manage local vendor interfaces to source alternative critical parts, safely negotiate advantageous transaction pricing, and resolve outstanding logistical invoice or purchase order disputes. Planning & Kitting Collaboration: Synthesize daily operations with the Maintenance Planner Scheduler to execute parts reservation profiles (kitting), identifying potential material gaps before they interrupt the planned production timeline. Strategic Inventory Optimization: Evaluate operational turnover using analytical tools to refine minimum/maximum boundaries, execute ABC inventory classifications, and systematically purge slow-moving or completely obsolete stock segments. Workplace Organization (5S): Maintain clean, meticulously organized, and fully secure environment footprints across all storerooms in concrete alignment with safety protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and 5S workplace requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Aptitude: Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and technical comprehension regarding industrial machine structures and operational parts layouts. Software Mastery: High-level computer literacy with native application knowledge spanning enterprise CMMS platforms and the Microsoft Office suite (specifically advanced Excel formatting and workbook manipulation). Process Standards: Proactive capacity to read, analyze, and adhere strictly to plant documentation, including detailed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), regulatory safety rules, and operational guidelines. Leadership & Collaboration: Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills to direct internal personnel supportively, coach technical maintenance staff, and align targets across department divisions. Required Education and Experience Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Manufacturing Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of direct, hands-on production or manufacturing environment experience is strictly required. Database Systems: Prior structural experience navigating and inputting data within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is mandatory. Preferred Background: Specialized previous experience operating directly within an industrial parts storeroom or logistics inventory control capacity is strongly preferred.
