Duties Provide comprehensive and skilled psychological evaluations and treatment services to individuals, couples, groups, and families for problems of personality, emotional adjustments, or mental illness of a primary or secondary nature. Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests; conduct tests to differentiate between organic and functional causes of emotional disturbances and/or behaviors. Provide assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy utilizing a broad range of therapeutic techniques as indicated by the specific needs of the individual, group, or family. Ensure completeness, timeliness, diagnostic and therapeutic pertinence, and maintenance of clinical psychology professional standard of care for services and reports. Provide thorough and concise written documentation of evaluations, treatment, and case management services, psychological test summaries, treatment plans, referrals, and correspondence. Provide consultative services to relevant providers and team members such as primary care, ER, dental, allied professionals, and others, advising on diagnosis, assessment, treatment, and referrals for patients presenting with behavioral health concerns. Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Background investigation and financial suitability assessment are required. On‑call hours or standby duty may be required. Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) may be required. Qualifications Degree: Ph.D. or equivalent in Clinical Psychology or a field directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS‑11 and above, satisfactory completion of all doctoral requirements is required. Minimum Qualifications: GS‑12: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑11) in the private or public sector, performing tasks such as providing clinical psychological services—including evaluation, diagnosis, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and specialized treatment modalities for mental health problems of children, adolescents, adults, and families; assessing high‑acuity patients; and deciding on transfers to higher levels of care. GS‑13: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑12) in the private or public sector, performing tasks such as making diagnosis or treatment decisions based on trauma‑informed care practices; providing immediate care for individuals in trauma, anxiety, or psychotic crises; providing crisis intervention services, including suicide intervention, drug & alcohol abuse, and domestic violence; and conducting psychological tests to inform diagnosis of disorders such as psychosis, Major Depressive Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder. Selective Factor: Must possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license as a psychologist in a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. All eligibility and qualification requirements must be met by the respective cut‑off day of rating to be considered for selection.
