Managing Audiologist

Job Summary Oversees and performs testing and examination to determine a patients hearing level, balance assessment, and/or the site and nature of any damage. Oversees the interpretation of diagnostic audiological results with other diagnostic data to formulate the patients diagnosis, and plans and oversees several interrelated auditory disorder treatments to ensure that best practices are followed, and positive care outcomes are achieved. Provides training and maintains records of diagnostic findings and progress made utilizing appropriate software. Oversees, conducts, and evaluates clinical and research procedures as well as improved methods of evaluation of persons with auditory and balance disorders. Provides audiology education for patients and other professionals across the region relating to pre-hearing aid expectations, post-purchase use and care, and hearing and balance disorders. Provides developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross-functional relationships. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; works closely with employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement. Pursues professional growth; develops and provides training and development to talent for growth opportunities; supports execution of performance management guidelines and expectations. Leads, adapts, implements, and stays up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices, processes, and industry trends. Fosters open dialogue amongst team members, engages, motivates, and promotes collaboration within and across teams. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance, and scope; encourages development and consideration of options in decision making. Manages designated work unit or team by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversees the completion of work assignments and identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; determines and ensures processes and methodologies are implemented; resolves escalated issues as appropriate; sets standards and measures progress. Fosters the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives. Conducts and ensures that patients receive quality treatment by: Conducting, overseeing, and maintaining quality of care and service standards for habilitative, rehabilitative, or conservation programs across all teams in a region through the application of advanced audiology knowledge; counseling individuals with auditory disorders, their families, and other service providers, independently, regarding the etiology of the disorder, its management, the recommended follow-up and treatment plan while developing training plans to improve counseling capabilities across multiple audiology departments; and using advanced knowledge to custom fit and program hearing aids, troubleshoot hearing aid problems, provide in office hearing aid maintenance and repair, perform electroacoustic analysis and Rear Ear measurement to ensure patient benefit while monitoring all activities of the Hearing Aid Center business venture. Ensures that diagnostic information is properly utilized by: Coordinating diagnostic audiological results with other diagnostic data, such as educational, medical, social, and behavioral information while developing training plans to support the integration of this information; independently interpreting results and fostering an understanding of auditory diagnostic processes, including interpretation of data and results to reach a diagnosis, for all audiologists in a region; and independently monitoring changes in relevant audiometric and other diagnostic data to determine changes over time and progress through treatment while identifying treatment issues by analyzing data across multiple teams. Manages audiology education for patients and other professionals by: Preparing, coordinating, and presenting patient educational classes relating to pre-hearing aid expectations, post-purchase use and care, and hearing and balance disorders, while emphasizing the importance of patient education across multiple teams; planning, developing, and overseeing seminars/workshops that teach audiology to professional staff and train them to conduct audiometry for all audiologists in a region; and supervising staff to ensure audiologists are in compliance with audiology licensing laws ethical codes and other local, state, and federal regulations. Maintains and manages recordkeeping by: Independently recording and providing training to audiologists regarding diagnostic and progress recording software; and completing required visit documentation, reporting results, billing, and service capture while overseeing the completion of required visit documentation, reporting results and analyzing reports for potential risks or issues, and determining reporting processes for all audiologists in a region. Influences research in and evaluation by: Designing and developing strategic, cutting-edge clinical and research procedures as well as ensuring that all audiologists in the region are familiar with recent advancements in clinical and research procedures as well as improved methods of evaluation of persons with auditory and balance disorders; using advanced knowledge to conduct and oversee postoperative studies to determine hearing improvement achieved through surgery, and utilizing innovation and ingenuity to develop solutions to complex cases; and reporting results of research and evaluation and/or determining the direction of research and evaluation in accordance with organizational long-term strategic plans. Oversees and performs testing and examination by: Leveraging advanced knowledge to ensure that all audiologists in a region are appropriately physically and otoscopically examining the outer structure of the ear, monitoring the administration of acoustic and electro-acoustic tests, ensuring the processes are correct through the implementation of training programs and initiatives, and administering the tests when necessary to determine a patients hearing level, balance assessment, and/or the site and nature of any damage. Plans and oversees treatment planning by: Utilizing advanced knowledge to anticipate and predict potential benefits of several interrelated auditory disorder treatments while leading teams to identify auditory disorder treatments and determining organization-wide auditory disorder treatment capability plans according to organizational strategy and long-term needs of departments; coordinating habilitative and rehabilitative programs and developing and presenting new regional and/or service area Audiology and Hearing Aid Center strategic initiatives and strategies for habilitative and rehabilitative programs; leading the planning for new equipment, space and facility upgrades in addition to providing recommendations for contracts regarding vendor services; and partnering with other chiefs of service and managing several teams in coordinating with other professionals such as audiologists, surgeons, physical therapists, provider staff, and oncologists within the region in order to ensure that best practices are followed and positive care outcomes are achieved.
