Adjunct Instructor – Orthotics and Prosthetics Position Title: Adjunct Instructor – Orthotics and Prosthetics. This part‑time, exempt position reports to the Department Chair. The instructor teaches courses for which they are qualified, works with full‑time faculty on student assessment, and complies with all college policies and the adjunct faculty contract. Hiring Rate: $1,106.00 per contact hour (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or $1,161.00 per contact hour (Ph.D., Ed.D., or J.D.). Essential Duties Teach a course load of no more than 12 contact hours. Participate in annual student and chair or coordinator evaluations. Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, assessments, and other established processes. Attend classes regularly and return required documentation in a timely manner, communicating effectively with staff and directors. Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations, and report discrepancies to appropriate officials. Commit to the mission, goals, and core values of the college at all times. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract. Minimum Qualifications Orthotic and/or Prosthetic Technician with at least three years of experience. Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with other college and community members, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence. Preferred Qualifications Certified Technician or Clinician by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics. Experience at the community college level. Experience with traditional and non‑traditional students from diverse backgrounds. Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. Demonstrated multicultural competence. Physical Demands Standard classroom equipment and software. Ability to work with equipment and tools necessary for the lab portion of the class. Working Conditions Classroom teaching environment. Lab environment for the lab portion of the class.
